Many years of clinical research have shown that the first cervical vertebra, the Atlas, is more or less malrotated from birth in almost all humans. Trauma such a whiplash, slips and falls, or sports injuries can push the Atlas vertebra in an even worse position, becoming the root cause of many health problems.

The Atlas not only carries the skull, but is also responsible for the suspension, equilibrium and management of the spine and skeleton. When the Atlas is misaligned it causes the head to tilt. The spine then compensates by rotating muscles and bones all the way down to the hip joints, in an attempt to maintain the center of gravity. This can cause neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain, and hip pain. As the hip rotates, one leg becomes shorter than the other, causing additional problems with posture, balance, alignment and body function.

At the Atlas vertebra, cerebral nerves, arteries, veins, spinal cord and spinal fluid pass through the opening at the base of the skull. A misalignment of the Atlas leads to continuous pressure on the spinal cord, nerves, blood vessels and lymphatic channels. This in turn effects all signals from the brain to the rest of the body, impacting all body systems. Digestion, mental clarity, emotional stability, sleep patterns, circulation, organ function, vision and other senses can all be adversely affected by Atlas misalignment.

An Atlas in its correct position optimizes circulation and shifts the center of gravity, thus reducing, or eliminating headaches, migraines, vertigo, neck stiffness, back pain and many other health problems. Medical conditions caused by a misaligned Atlas include, but are not limited to:

  • Back problems
  • Stiff neck
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Blood pressure—hypertension
  • Displaced pelvis
